  11. ONE of My Favorite Places in Italy is Lucca, with its magnificent high wall completely surrounding the historic center of the city. The wall is so enormous that it holds meadows and forested parks on top. Yet it is intimate and quiet because only pedestrians and bicyclers have access to use it.

  12. One of my favorite places in Italy is the town of Ispra along the shores of Lago Maggiore where my parents grew up, fell in love and got married!

  13. One of my favorite places to visit in Italy is Venezia. I love just walking around especially at night and just ending up wherever the streets take me. It is a mysterious and captivating city.

  20. ONE of my favorite places in Italy is my cousins’ dining room in their inn in a small village near Bobbio, Piacenza, in northern Italy..

  21. ONE of My Favorite Places in Italy is Residenza Paradiso in Trevi, Umbria. We spent 10 blissful days there taking the walking track to Trevi most days through the olive groves, relaxing by the swimming pool, watching the world out of the little viewing tower in casa del contadino and exploring neighbouring towns of Montefalco, Spello, Spoleto… and of course trying to communicate with my 20 words of Italian and her 10 words of English with the wonderful owner Emiliana!

  22. Just one of my many favourite places in Italy is Palazzo Rinaldi in Noepoli, an artist residency in the small hilltop village.

  23. Napoli – to wonder through the beautiful little streets where old and new meet, enjoying the picture postcard landscape of Vesuvius watching over the Bay of Naples, breathtakingly beautiful views – pure magic!

  24. One of my favourite places in Italy is sitting in Campo San Barnaba in Venice sipping a Spritz in the early evening summer sun. It’s the most relaxing place on Earth, watching the fruttivendolo selling from his boat while local kids play football in the square. Bliss!

  25. One of my favorite places in Italy is Rome for sure. There is so much history and it is so beautiful. Although there are many beautiful cities in Italy, I cannot stay away from my ROMA!!

  29. My favorite place so far in Italy is Umbria – whether it’s driving through the countryside to Orvieto, living in an old farmhouse near Perugia or enjoying a fabulous meal in a local Agriturismo. I plan on spending some of my retirement there!

  31. One of my favorite places in Italy is my local bar. Here I can check in withthe barmen and regular patrons, share the latest news and indulge in the best cappuccino on the planet. From the steamy, deep aroma of freshly ground espresso to the sweet, yeasty vapor that wafts from the heated breakfast cornetti case, I delight in the ritual of chat and sustenance that keeps me deeply rooted to my adopted community in Martina Franca, Puglia.
